Design

As part of our commitment to constantly exceed our guest's expectations, we often undertake construction and refurbishment projects across our villages.  As part of this process, Center Parcs is committed to assessing and managing the environmental impacts of this work and of any facilities we build.  We are continually working to improve the energy and water efficiency of our buildings.  Our new villas are constructed from sustainable timber and offer levels of energy efficiency well in excess of the legal requirements.

Consideration of the environmental impacts of construction starts from the design and is integrated into every stage of the development, right through to encouraging guests to consider the impacts they are having whilst using our facilities.  Where new buildings are being constructed consideration is given to all significant areas that might result in environmental impact; including positioning, sourcing of materials, and the use of energy and water within the completed building.  Extensive efforts are made to maintain and, wherever practical, enhance the environmental value of the area to ensure that the development is in harmony with the wider environment of our villages.

Recently, Center Parcs commissioned the construction of a brand new Head Office, which has been built on the site of the former colliery at Ollerton in Nottinghamshire. The building incorporates many sustainable design features including high levels of insulation, a grey water capturing system for the toilets and passive ventilation. Because of these design features and the engagement with the local community, this building is an exemplar of it type and has been awarded a 'very good' sustainability rating from the British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
