Water Management
Water is a valuable resource that is often taken for granted. At Center Parcs we recognise this and work to use water as efficiently as possible, whilst maintaining the highest of standards of water quality. This can be achieved through the management of water quality within the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, conservation of water within villas, or through the capturing and use of rain water.
Center Parcs uses state of the art water monitoring and treatment systems to maintain the quality of our pool water, so that our guests enjoy the best possible swimming experience. Our expertise in water management also expands to our management of water quality across the whole site.
With the average village using 259 000 cubic metres of water a year, we have to ensure that we do not waste this valuable resource. The most important consideration for Center Parcs is the guest experience. Any measures to conserve water must not detract from that; for example, within a villa refurbishment, wherever practical, we have ensured that the rainwater from the roof is used to replenish the water from our lake. At our Head Office, rain water is used for grey water to flush toilets. By placing Hippo bags into most of our toilet cisterns, both in our villas and central buildings, we have reduced our water usage by one litre per toilet each time it is flushed. This may not sound like much, but when you that we have over 8000 toilets, being flushed on average 4 times a day, 365 days a year, this equates to a saving of approximately 11 million litres each year.
