Activity Den
Activity Den (Family Activities)
The Activity Den Venue is located in the Village Centre close to the upper entrance. It has level access via a reception area through a security door for the leave alone rooms. Our Family Activities team run sessions from this location as well as at our Sports Plaza providing Parent Accompanied Instructor lead Activities as well as Leave Alone sessions.
Accessible toilets are provided within the Activity Den. The nearest Changing Place is next to The Entertainment Hive in the Village Centre, approximately a one minute walk
All areas of the Activity Den are accessible.
The Activity Den has a level outdoor play area with a suitable surface for wheelchair use, which is completely secure. This is accessed via the leave alone rooms and for children booked on these sessions.
The Activity Den also has;
- Craft Room, which is next to the Activity Den reception desk. This holds the parent accompanied sessions and is fully accessible.
- Activity Room, which is accessible via a path outside the building. This holds parent accompanied sessions and is fully accessible with an accessible toilet in the room.
Guests with additional needs can be accommodated in most sessions, including guests who require supervision or support in addition to the usual leave alone ratios. If additional support is required over and above the prescribed ratio of 1:8 in our Leave Alone sessions, we will arrange this wherever reasonably possible. Please speak to us in advance with at least two weeks’ notice.
Access to Parent Accompanied sessions outside the recommended age restrictions, both instructor lead at Activity Den and in the Sports Plaza, can be discussed in advance and we request you contact us prior to booking to discuss. This will allow us to ensure the session is appropriate and provide any additional staffing to support you.
Our Sensory Activities room can be made available for use through your stay if appropriate. Please enquire prior to your stay for availability. Note that availability can be very limited due to sessions already running in this space.
You can contact our Activity Den at Whinfell on 01768 893081 (Mon – Sun, 9:30-5pm) to speak to the team and arrange additional support as required.
Access Policy
We are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with disabilities and/or additional needs, can access and participate fully in our environment and activities. We aim to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual. In line with current legislation and best practice, we adopt a child-centred approach and work in partnership with parents, carers and making reasonable adjustments to meet each child’s needs effectively.
