Around the village

Around the village

Generally, there are a few inclines throughout the village.

One to note leads from the Waterfront Apartments to the beach and village. The gradient is 1:8. There is an alternative route to the beach and village via the roadway in front of the apartments

Main pathways are a mix of tarmac and brick weave pathways, there are also bark chipped areas and natural forest tracks around the village. Please be aware that tracks can become weathered. Please wear appropriate footwear.

The level of lighting around the village is designed not to compromise the rural environment you may find a torch useful in the evenings. Please keep to prepared roads and paths at all times. See The Village Safety Guide for more details.

Play Area

The external play area has a combination of loose bark chipped surfaces and soft pour tarmac. The play equipment is designed to have ability led access. There is an accessible area including a soft pour tarmac pathway leading to an accessible roundabout, castle play structure and one step down trampoline. There are different swings, a nest swing, rockers, and play elements. Along with play towers to suit different abilities.

The beach has a wooden pathway down the centre of the sand to allow access onto the beach for wheelchairs and mobility issues. There is also a brick weave path surrounding the beach with bench style seating.

Around the Village Centre and main areas there are picnic tables and seating.

Around the Rangers Lodge/Santa’s Woodland Village there are hard standing paths and bark chipped areas, surrounding these are tarmac and brick weave paths.

Most activity areas are natural forest floor or woodchip for example, The Glade, Nature Walks, Action Challenge and OAC. See individual statements for more details.
